Monica Dennis

Racial Justice Strategist & Facilitator in New York

Monica Dennis leads a consulting practice that provides training, coaching, strategic planning and leadership development to organizations and communities committed to racial justice and equity. Her work focuses on shifting from an individual to a systemic analysis of structural racism and understanding racism’s relationship to intersecting oppressions. More specifically, she explores the impact of racism on both the micro (leadership styles, communication patterns, decision-making) and macro (institutional policies, practices and culture) levels. Deeply rooted in Black cultural traditions, her process incorporates experiential practices such as storytelling, reflective writing, art and music responses.

Monica is a core organizer with#BlackLivesMatter NYC, an international organizing network focused on combating anti-Black racism in all of its forms. She is currently a thought leader and strategic thinker for the NoVo Foundation’s Move To End Violence initiative, CoreAlign’s Speaking Race to Power fellowship, the Drug Policy Alliance and a host of others working to incorporate racial equity practices and policies into their work.

Monica is passionate about dance, film, travel, pop culture and her hometown, New York City.
