Mordechai Pelta

For nearly a decade, Mordechai Pelta has worked in the legal field. Recently, he applied his expertise as a Contract Attorney with the law firm of Winston & Strawn LLP. From 2008 to 2011, he was a Deputy District Attorney of Del Norte County in Crescent City, California. He argued over 30 cases, including 14 trial-by-jury cases, which was more than the total of all the other attorneys in his office for the same period. Whereas some trials with which he was involved were on the misdemeanor docket, others were felony domestic violence and child support cases. Regardless, Mordechai Pelta was responsible for prosecution from arraignment through post-trial.

While completing his postsecondary education, Mordechai Pelta spent time on the East and West Coast. After receiving his B.A. from San Francisco State University with a double major in History (Honors Program) and Political Science, he attended City University of New York School of Law. At CUNY Law, Mr. Pelta competed in Moot Court, served as the Executive Articles Editor for the New York City Law Review, co-edited two law books by Professor John Delaney, and worked as a Teaching Assistant for Advanced Criminal Procedure and a seminar on practical lawyering involving pre-trial advocacy in federal court.

In May 2001, a year to the month before receiving his Juris Doctorate, Mordechai Pelta successfully completed a clerkship as a Bar-Certified Law Clerk for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, prosecuting at preliminary hearings and contested juvenile jurisdictional hearings. Since then, Mr. Pelta has worked for Brayton Purcell; Stanford University; the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory at the University of California, Berkeley; Paul, Hanley & Harley, LLP; and Finkelstein & Kamali, LLP.
