I am a native of Chicago and a 2012 graduate of DePaul University’s College of Law. I received a certificate in Business Law along with my Juris Doctorate and have an interest in corporate law, consumer financial services, banking and finance, and litigation. I am a licensed Texas attorney and reside in Dallas, TX. I currently work as a Mortgage Litigation Associate at Bank of America; handling mortgage and foreclosure litigation, condemnation, title claims, and probate issues that arise as Bank of America attempts to secure its interest in the property throughout the foreclosure process. With the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau under the Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, it is a very busy and exciting time in the consumer financial service industry. The CFPB has been busy publishing laws on qualified mortgage standards, consumer’s ability to repay, and limits on loan officer compensation. As a result, it is imperative that financial service institutions obtain the proper legal advice and counsel to ensure their compliance with the coming regulations. However, it is equally important that consumers are educated and up-to-date with these rules that are being enacted to protect their interests. As a result, the primary focus of this blog will be informing consumers about the CFPB and bringing public awareness to the new laws that are meant to protect consumers.
