Colin Parker
Auckland, New Zealand
I am a UK-trained reporter and sub editor now living in Auckland, New Zealand. I have worked for eight years for The Guardian and then Trinity Mirror.
As a sub editor I have used both InDesign and Quark X Press, on tabloid and broadsheet pages. I have a confident command of English, a keen eye for mistakes, and write engaging headlines, subheads and standfirsts. I was trained at the Press Association in London by Peter Sands, who coaches sub editors at the Daily Mail, The Daily Telegraph, and The Sun.
I have experience reporting courts and crime, politics, health, business, off-diary stories, sport, and green issues, and have written features on most topics, including travel. My travel and mountain biking blog can be read at mrcolinparker.wordpress.com.
As a small aside, I am part of a four-man crew that next year will attempt to become the first to row the Pacific from California to Hawai’i. Visit us at www.pacificrowers.com.
