I’m a NYC-based dramaturg, critic, and Drama Desk Awards nominating committee chair. After years of work as a social science researcher studying the drama of child and family law, I turned 15 years ago to dramaturgy and theater criticism. I work with playwrights, review scripts, and write about productions and creative people.

I was a 2014 O'Neill NCI Fellow, a founding editor of the theater design magazine Chance, served on Chicago’s Jeff Committee, and currently am a judge for the Henry Hewes Design Awards and the newly established Glenn M. Loney ATCA Production Design Award for Regional Theater.

Board memberships have included ATCA (since 2015) and the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas.

My web site Urban Excavations focuses on live performance and film.
