Mubita Simataa is a doctoral researcher in the Innovation, Technology Entrepreneurship and Marketing (ITEM) group of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences (IE&IS) at the Eindhoven University of Technology. He is interested in design and system approaches to innovation. His doctoral work focuses on co-designing business models for sustainable agriculture and food systems in developing countries. In this project, he takes a systems approach that considers the everyday challenges faced by local communities, centers on an awareness of contextual dynamics, and advocates for long-term collaboration to achieve meaningful transformation. He is proficient in qualitative research and possesses a solid understanding of quantitative methods.
Mubita has a transdisciplinary background connecting project management, entrepreneurship, innovation, and the social sciences. He has an MSc in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from the University of Sussex (United Kingdom), a postgraduate microcredential in Design and Design Thinking from the University of Birmingham (United Kingdom), and a double Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Studies and Psychology from the University of Zambia (Zambia). He is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Agile practitioner (Certified Scrum Master, Professional Scrum Master I).
Before joining TU/e, Mubita worked for the Project Luangwa Trust in Zambia, collaborating with local communities in and around South Luangwa to devise long-term solutions that support sustainable livelihoods for low-income families.
