Michael Russell

I'm a video editor, motion graphic artist, foodie, coffee-snob, cook, entry-level blogger, budding social-media enthusiast, low-level political junkie, and 20-something.

In 2009 I graduated cum laude from the Quinnipiac University's School of Communications with a B.A. in Communications and a concentration in Media Production. I excelled at video editing and motion graphics, as well as media production in the studio and in the field. My work with Q30 Student Television included director of Sports Paws (in-studio sports program), technical director of Bobcat Blitz (remote set-up), and the stations Business Manager during my Senior Year (2008-2009). I created show opens for for two Q30 programs using Adobe After Effects, Bobcat Blitz and QU Gameday. In the Spring of 2009 I produced and edited The TD Banknorth Sports Center for the 2009 Freshman Video.

While at Quinnipiac, I also worked as a stage manager and student worker for regionally broadcast Quinnipiac sporting events on NESN and MSG. In the December of 2008, Michael was selected to be the technical director of "Grading The Media," a in-studio live-to-tape broadcast for Connecticut Public Television.

During the summer of Michael's Senior Year, I interned at The Food Network Studios in New York City, learning first hand the amount of work that goes into preparing and filming popular cable programming, including "Guys Big Bite" and "Iron Chef America."

I also began working with fellow Quinnipiac students Neil Rogers-Reo and Gunnar Heinrich on Automobiles De Luxe, a start-up television show that was featuring on Connecticut Public Television in the Spring of 2009. I was an the lead editor for segment that took a look back at Cadillac's 100 Years.

In the summer of 2009, I became a lead editor for the Social Media and Web Team at Destination ImagiNation Global Finals. My duties included filming and editing together short high quality videos from different events at the Tournament for YouTube. Each year since, I has worked with a team or two to three to produce, film, and edit in excess of 10 videos for broadcast on YouTube.

I continue to work with many different clients through Great Idea Media LLC, including editing and filming for Interlace Communications, and editing and motion graphic animation for Newlyweds-Dish.com.
