Nick Hollensbe

Knoxville, TN

Prior to his career in technology, Nick spent his formative years programing, managing a BBS, and producing computer animation. In late high school, he developed a passion for video while working on the student-run newscast, and his editorial work was showcased nationally.

While working on his computer science degree at the University of Kansas, Nick worked for the broadcast arm of the World Company – a converged local media company that leveraged a single newsroom for their television, newspaper, and online products.

Upon completion of his degree in 2003, Nick accepted an offer to become a video producer for a small production house in Binghamton, NY, where he was responsible for production of high-end corporate video work for a range of platforms including tradeshow kiosks/booths, interactive CD/DVD, online video, and broadcast television.

In 2005, he joined the Scripps-owned Naples Daily News in Florida to lead video efforts which, which marked one of the first times a newspaper employed such a position. While in Naples, Nick completed a number of innovative, award-winning online video projects, including new online video platform (OVP), a daily newscast, video special sections, and online/broadcast commercial videos.

In 2007 Nick was promoted to become the first Manager of Online Video Initiatives for the Scripps Interactive Newspaper Group in Knoxville, TN. His core responsibilities included managing video related technical challenges, generation of new video revenue streams, editorial support for video at 13 newspapers, and production of online/broadcast commercial video.

Through his entire career, Nick has been focused on pushing creative boundaries by leveraging new tools, new processes, and new platforms born from rapid technological innovation. Nick is unique from others by his creative vision, obsessive attention to detail, and passion for learning.
