Nicky Merrick

North Lincolnshire

I'm Nicky and I recently completed a foundation degree in Fashion & Textiles. I have owned my company, Pink Giraffe, since 2007 and I work from home as well as Home Educating my little boy.

I am also an independant distributer for Wikaniko (We Can Eco) products. Being passionate about making my own home more 'green' and eco friendly has meant it is easy to sell the products that I believe in and use myself.

Being a wheelchair user has its disadvantages, but I prefer to dwell on the positive things it brings me rather the negative. Although it's sometimes hard and frustrating, being disabled means I can step outside of the rat race, spend more time with my family and enjoy life at my own pace. If I was ill I would probably be going out to work somewhere and worrying about childcare like a lot of other parents do.

Being disabled gives me a great work/life balance and I love my life. It helps having some amazing people around me too.
