I first learnt the interpretive trade as a frontline heritage interpreter at a historic mansion in the United States. In 2005 I moved to the United Kingdom. I was fortunate to become the first Learning and Interpretation Manager at the new Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre, a place that taught me a lot about the deep importance that heritage has for people. After a successful career in heritage management and consultancy, I returned to my native Germany in 2016. I am currently the managing director of the Volkshochschule Aalen, where I continue my focus on cultural heritage and its role in our lives.

My particular interests lie in interpretation philosophy, community engagement, and heritage policy.
