One of the people who keep the Internet working (at least in my little part of the world).
I started the Island Networks Group in 1996. We created the .GG and .JE top level domains for the Channel Islands (Alderney, Guernsey, Jersey, Sark).
We are still responsible for that, as well as running the 'backend' (i.e. the technical registry for American Samoa (.AS) under contract with AS Domain Registry.
My first degree is in Computing Science, from Essex University. I'm also a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the BCS (the Chartered Institute for IT). In 2008 I obtained a Qualifying Law Degree (LL.B).
I was a candidate for the House of Commons in the 1997 UK General Election. When I didn't succeeding in persuading the voters of Ipswich to send me to Westminster, I moved to the tiny Channel Island of
Alderney instead. I've been since (though I travel quite a bit). I was a member of the States (the Island Parliament) between 2002-3.
Outside of my day job I have interests in cryptocurrencies and analogue electronic music.
