The Nord Trio

Dazzlingly virtuosic, adventurous in repertoire and intensive to the point of obsession in interpretation, the Nord Trio is an exciting ensemble consisting of the unique combination of accordion, violin and piano. The Norwegian-Finnish trio is equally at home in its versions of solemnly burning Finnish tango, in the clutches of Piazzolla’s Argentinian passion as in contemporary classical works commisioned especially for the trio. The members are young top professionals and winners of international competitions.

SINI SIMONEN

The young Finnish violinist is one of the rarest musical talenst of her generation. All at an early age she showed an extraordinary talent for violin. Simonen has won top prizes in several international violin competitions, including Lipizer, Flesch, Cremona and Sibelius violin competitions. In addition to her solo career, she is a member of the Danish chamber music group Esbjerg Ensemble. Simonen has played as soloist with, among others, the Finnish Radio Symphony, Helsinki Philharmonic, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Göttingen Symphony Orchestra, Gyor Philharmonic Orchestra and the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. She has given acclaimed recitals in many European countries and the United States, and has toured in Japan and Mongolia in a string quartet with violinist Midori.

HEIDI LUOSUJÄRVI

The Finnish Consert Accordionist graduated from the Sibelius Academy in Finland and at the Folkwan University of Arts in Essen, Germany. Luosujärvi have among others won 1 price from “Prix International de l’Accordéon de Luxembourg” and the international JAA-accordion competition in Tokyo, Japan. Luosujärvi has experience in numerous concerts in Europe and Asia, and are constantly working with composers as Toshio Hosokawa, Yuji Takahashi, Wolfgang Rihm, Pagh-Paan Younghi, Frank Zabel und David P. Graham. Right after finishing her studies, she was employed as a docent at the Folkwang University of Arts in Essen.

INGER-KRISTINE RIBER

An exciting Norwegian classical pianist with artistic soloist studies from the University of Oslo, Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover, and the Academy of Music in Oslo. Riber has an active international career as a soloist and chamber musician, and has initiated several projects that have toured both domestically and overseas.
