Pamela Winnick

Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Pamela R. Winnick serves as a true Renaissance woman. After receiving her Juris Doctor from Columbia University Law School, where she served as a member of the prestigious Columbia Law Review, Pamela R. Winnick practiced law for 20 years. Winnick subsequently embarked on a career change, abandoning law for journalism. Pamela R. Winnick returned to school, attending the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. After graduating from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, Pamela R. Winnick became a reporter with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Pamela R. Winnick regularly wrote for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette until 2002, at which point she took a hiatus to work on a historical fiction novel about a Jewish family during the American Revolution. While she is currently on hiatus from reporting, Winnick still submits occasional columns to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and has also written articles featured in The Wall Street Journal and The Weekly Standard LLC. The book features a heroine, Rebecca, and a hero, Mr. Alexander Hamilton, the commander of a New York artillery regiment. Winnick’s novel, scheduled for completion in June 2011, is based on records from the New York Historical Society. Winnick takes liberties with the development of the characters, which she finds is the most enjoyable part of writing this type of fiction. Pamela R. Winnick credits her father, Louis, for passing along to her an appreciation for the written word. In order to honor his memory, Pamela R. Winnick and her family established the Louis Winnick award, which consists of $5,000 awarded on an annual basis to a student in Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. An avid reader, Pamela R. Winnick admires authors Anita Shreve, Edith Wharton, and Anthony Trollope. A member of the American Jewish Historical Society, Pamela R. Winnick started a new group on Linked called Jewish Patriots.
