santiago, chile, october 1, 1985. my parents are angélica and patricio. my brothers are jorge and eduardo. happily married to scott. all of them are awesome people.

i earned my Ph.D. in Pharmacology & Physiology from Rutgers University in Newark, NJ in 2014. as a doctoral student, i worked under the supervision of dr. walter durán on various aspects of microvascular physiology, with a focus on the regulation of endothelial barrier function in health and disease. then i crossed the hudson river to work as a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of dr. anne müsch at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY. i now hold an appointment as Adjunt Assistant Professor at CUNY–Lehman College in the Bronx, and i'm having a blast teaching anatomy & physiology, introduction to biology, and partaking of several departmental committees on curricular development. i'm also a faculty advisor for the Minority Association of Pre-Health Students (MAPS) and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) at Lehman. call me crazy, but one day i'd like to be a professor, teach a few classes, have my own lab, lead a group of people and do good science that will further our understanding of life.

besides science, i have interests in politics, philosophy, sociology and most forms of art, as well as a longstanding obsession with commercial aviation and aeronautical engineering. while i don't have a pilot's license (and i would love to have one), i do write poetry and other stuff (in sp
