Patrick J. Madden, M.A., LEP

Thousand Oaks, California

Greetings all! I have a Masters degree in Educational Psychology with an emphasis on counseling psychology. I have spent the past 35 years developing expertise in counseling children and adolescents and young adults, coaching teachers and parents, and assisting individuals with learning disabilities, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, and other social/emotional and developmental challenges. I was named Outstanding School Psychologist of the Year by the California Association of School Psychologists (CASP), and am a past president of the Ventura County Association of School Psychologists.

I have a special interest in brief, creative, solution-focused approaches to counseling. In addition to teaching graduate-level classes at two local universities, I have presented professional workshops at the state and national level and have published articles on a variety of topics including the use of metaphors, symbols, ceremonies, and story-telling techniques to facilitate rapid change. I am on the Community Advisory Board for the graduate school of psychology at California Lutheran University and participate in colloquia sessions at the graduate level. I am working on a book that addresses the fundamental ingredients that underlie all therapeutic interventions. I also have an interest in spiritual psychology and have been a student of The Course in Miracles for many years.
