Paula Varjack

Paula Varjack is a writer and performance artist. Her work yields a unique fusion of lyrical storytelling and charismatic performance, often accompanied by music or video. For the last three years she has toured extensively, performing in theatres, bars, galleries and cabaret nights across Europe.

She has collaborated with a number of international music producers, including Ludwig Berger, Backdraft, Cloudfist Conceptz, Filtig and Dj That F*cking Sara, to find beats that go with her words. She was thrilled to be one of the artists on the compilation Untold Songs Volume one, released in collaboration with Amnesty International and She Said 2 Much to raise awareness and money for Amnesty International's "Stop Violence Against Women" campaign (All proceeds from the sale of this release go to Amnesty International).

In 2009 her first solo show, Kiss and Tell, premiered at Hau Zwei as part of the Berlin 100 Degrees Theatre festival. In 2010 she was one of the nine artists in residence for the E.U. funded Poetry Slam Days project, creating a multilingual show: Smoke and Mirrors, which went on tour to over twenty European cities. In 2011 she traded her heels for wellies, compering the Poetry tent at Glastonbury with Dreadlock Alien, a role she is excited to return to next summer. In addition to performing, she has facillitated writing and performance workshops for a range of age groups and settings.

Having been based in Berlin for four years, she is now based in London, where she is pursuing a Masters in Performance Making at Goldsmiths College, University of London.
