Paul Butterworth

Paul Butterworth featured in the Full Monty as Nathan’s step father, Barry, and was honoured for ‘Outstanding Performance by a cast in a Motion Picture’ by the Screen Actors Guild of America. He next plays Domhnall Gleeson’s dad in the new Michael Fassbender feature Frank released on 2nd May 2014. His CV reads like a history of British Television with roles such as the Director of Education in Alan Bleasdale’s GBH starring Robert Lindsay, Roger in Peter Kosminsky’s The Project and the vicar in The Only Boy for Me starring Helen Baxendale and Patrick Baladi.

Paul trained at the Central school of Speech and Drama 1974/77 on their teaching course, moving from there into Community Theatre. Following a spell in the ensemble under Casper Wreder at the Royal Exchange in Manchester he moved into a life-long career in TV and film. Currently Paul is enjoying studying conversational American under top US voice coach, Jon Sperry, (whose client list includes Harvey Keitel) and will be fluent by Easter 2014.

Paul’s recent work includes guest lead in Holby City, and playing opposite John Lydon in the long-running Country Life Butter Commercial. He is presently collaborating on a new drama comedy, Porter Girl, featuring in the co-lead as Head Porter.

He has a passion for film and is an active voting BAFTA member. He created and moderates BAFTA’s official members only Facebook group (120 members and rising steadily) which he would like to evolve into a worldwide BAFTA community and initiated a monthly members’ only drinks group at 195 Piccadilly.
