My name is Dr. Paul Kochoa. I am a physiotherapist that specializes in orthopedic musculoskeletal injuries, golf-related injuries, and golf fitness.

I enjoy finding new ways to stay fit and exercise. Learning new things allows me to expand my skill and movement knowledge base. My love of movement, fitness, and golf have blended together to create my treatment philosophy:

Move better. Feel better. Play better.

When I started playing golf, I found that my background in kinesiology and physical therapy gave me a unique perspective. At the time, I was just struggling to keep up with my friends who had played the game for years and were much better. I couldn’t hit as far as them and my scores were always 20 strokes more than theirs.

Then I found the Titleist Performance Institute. Their Body-Swing Connection method gave me a deeper understanding of the golf swing and fit my movement and treatment philosophy perfectly.

Getting assessed, discovering my own movement dysfunctions and treating them changed my game. I was able to hit the ball longer, straighter, and dropped my score 30 strokes. Now when I step up to the tee with my buddies, I’m hitting one or even two clubs less than them.

Being a TPI Level 3 golf medical professional allows me to change other people’s games just like mine did.

Seeing golf instruction and fitness from both sides gave me a unique outlook. As it did with physical therapy.

I was a physical therapy patient in high school and in college. I experienced the medical model from both sides; as a patient, and now as a provider for over 20 years.

I received my doctorate of physical therapy from Mercy College and a BS in exercise physiology from Rutgers University. I am an APTA board-certified orthopedic clinical specialist, a certified clinical instructor, a TPI certified level 3 golf medical professional, a certified Graston Technique provider, and a certified RockTape and RockBlade FMT practitioner.
