Dr. Paul Suhey

A dedicated healthcare professional, Dr. Paul Suhey completed a rigorous academic career prior to becoming a successful orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist. As an undergraduate at The Pennsylvania State University, Dr. Paul Suhey acted as Captain of the Penn State Football team and earned membership in several senior honor societies, including Omicron Delta Kappa, Inc.; Parmi Nous; and Lion’s Paw Senior Society. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1979 and subsequently enrolled in the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. During his tenure as a medical student, he represented the interests of the student body as Class President and received such honors as the Dean’s Award and the Daibel Cardiology Award. Dr. Paul Suhey emerged with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 1984. After completing an internship at the Osteopathic Medical Center of Philadelphia and a residency with the Memorial Hospital in York, Pennsylvania, he opted to focus on specializing in orthopedics and sports medicine. Dr. Paul Suhey then secured a fellowship in sports medicine and hand surgery at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. His passion and talent for this area of medicine led to another fellowship in sports medicine with the renowned Dr. James Andrews at the Alabama Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham. Throughout his career, Dr. Paul Suhey has practiced through a host of surgery appointments at institutions like Atlantic Orthopedic and Sports Medicine in Jacksonville, Florida; the nearby Jacksonville Orthopedic Institute (JOI); and the University Orthopedics Center in State College, Pennsylvania. In 2008, he co-founded Martin & Suhey Orthopedics in State College. When not busy assisting patients, Dr. Paul Suhey strives to strengthen the medical community at large and frequently presents on sports medicine topics, making appearances at such conferences as the 23rd Annual Art and Science of Sports Medicine Symposium, the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics 36th Annual Postgraduate Seminar, and the Advanced Shoulder and Knee Seminar. He serves on the Medical Executive Committee at the Mount Nittany Medical and as a elected Alumni represenative to the Penn State Board of Trustees.
