After earning Bachelors and Masters degrees in Marine Science, Paul left science to become a classroom teacher. In the decade that followed, he was earned National Board Certification and was twice recognized by his peers as Teacher of the Year. In 2009, the North Carolina Science Teachers Association chose him as one of the Outstanding Science Educators in the state.
He serves as chairperson of his school's Science department, a member of the Data Team, and webmaster of its website; and he regularly provides training to his colleagues in the areas of educational technology, innovative grading practices, and personal learning networks. Paul blogs at Scripted Spontaneity, tweets as @MrScienceTeach, and writes columns for TeachHUB.com.
Paul is a husband and father of two young children who lives in Wake Forest, North Carolina when he's not leading groups of schoolchildren on field trips to Washington, DC, the Outer Banks, and Philadelphia.
