Pell Shade
Pell Shade
It's simple. I'm a 12 yr old sickly. I always went with my parents when they travelled, but my allergies kept making me ill. Now I'm forced to stay home while they wander the globe creating and fixing books. I miss my parents and getting to see all those exciting far off places, but I'm not entirely miserable. Aunt Syne stays with me when they're gone. She's the greatest aunt in the world and she brings me the most interesting gifts! Although, this time she brought me the oddest thing--paper. She did buy a big book to go along with it and I LOVE books! It's just paper. It's boring, right? The book though, isn't too bad--it's about origami. She says that there's more to the paper that what I see. She says that if I say these two special words then something amazing will happen. Statua Magis...that's latin by the way. It means, imagine more. I wonder...could these papers really give me my heart's desire?
Of course, Aunt Syne and I aren't the only ones who know about the paper. There's Mr. Gampi Raido, the eccentric shoppe keeper of Rare Finds. He's the who sold Aunt Syne the paper. There's the creepy Awl Blott--I think his name sounds like a deranged owl. Mitsu Kozo is really nice and Nibs seems to like her. Finally there's Reed Kozo, Mitsu's obnoxious brother. They all seem really interested in the paper, especially Mr. Blott. He thinks he can bully us into giving him the paper. He says the it belongs to him. Well it doesn't and he can't have it! Mr. Raido told Aunt Syne that the paper was meant for me and that it would not have left the shoppe with her if wasn't. I don't know what that means, but I do know that I will do anything to keep this paper!
