Peter Bergstein

Originally from Utrecht, Holland, Peter Bergstein is married to Lou Ann. His wife’s parents established the South Plains Food Bank in the early 1980s, and he firmly supports the Lubbock, Texas, organization’s core mission of alleviating poverty and helping local families gain stability. Peter Bergstein also contributes to the Texas Boys Ranch, which is located in the vicinity of the Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport. The working ranch provides a wholesome, character-forming environment for boys age 3-18.

Mr. Bergstein has a longstanding interest in sailing and has a particular passion for the America’s Cup, which is the world’s longest running trophy event competition. His favorite book is Sail Like a Champion by American yachtsman Dennis Conner, who successfully defended the America’s Cup on four occasions and memorably took home the trophy as a challenger in Fremantle, Australia, in 1987. Peter Bergstein had the opportunity to attend the 2013 America’s Cup in San Francisco, where the defending American crew came back from an 8-1 deficit against New Zealand to ultimately secure a 9-8 victory.
