My passions include Infrastructure Evolution, Consumable Technology and Mentoring. I’m a #StoryTeller & #PeopleSwitch (like a packet switch). I’m on BlueSky, LinkedIn, and SubStack.

I like Science Fiction & Fantasy. I like a wide range of music including #CelticPunk (e.g, Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly) . I read the Economist and I listen to podcasts on the law and national security (e.g., Amicus, Lawfare, Strict Scrutiny). I ride a recumbent tricycle.

I’m a Distinguished Engineer in the Cisco Networking Hardware team. I had key roles in the development of the UADP ASIC family, and the hugely successful Catalyst 9K platforms that use it. I’ve been speaking at Cisco Live (Peter@Live) for more than a decade, and have received multiple Distinguished Speaker awards.

I was Chair of the NBASE-T Alliance from its inception until its merger with the Ethernet Alliance. I chair the Ethernet Alliance, and host it’s “Voices of Ethernet” series. I’m active in IEEE 802.3.

I’ve talked in a lot of different places, e.g., Tech Field Day, CHI-NOG, Cables2Clouds, Imposter Syndrome Network, Rule11.
