Reviving the

The PHA Food & Farming campaign is about protecting the value of the Phillipi Horticultural Area as a food growing area. If we loose this space we will have to bring in food from outside of Cape Town. This will increase the cost of food. Let’s join hands to protect this space for our children and for future Cape Flats farmers.

Research shows that the PHA has the best soil, microclimate and water resources than anywhere else. We have a pool of quality human resources that currently produces 50% of the cities food. We have the potential to produce 100% of the cities food through a new model of farming. Small scale farmers and growers on the Cape Flats will use natural methods to reduce the cost of food for everyone. Growing food in any open spaces will mean even cheaper food and increase livelihood opportunities for more people.
Growing our own food is not only a pleasure but healthier and cheaper too. Lets join hands to protect our food growing spaces.
