Phil Bonang

Alliwind charter boat Captain Phil Bonang uses his 30 years of commercial and recreational fishing experience to offer his clients on-the-water fishing adventures through Mystic Fishing Carters. Captain Bonang guides fishing charters and cruises in the Northeast Atlantic Coastal waters around Connecticut. Captain Phil Bonang also offers customized sunset and sightseeing cruises and fishing adventures, and was one of the first charters to offer offshore kayak fly-fishing trips. Captain Philip Bonang has also used his maritime experience as Marine Technology Instructor in New Haven, Connecticut, where he trained students for careers in marine science and technology. As an instructor, Captain Bonang was appointed to the position of Coordinator for the state’s Aquaculture Business and Career Development program and as the National Foundation Teacher of Entrepreneurship. Using his degree in English and teaching certificate, Captain Phil Bonang also worked as Lead Instructor of Technical Communications I and II at a state industrial trade program for Electric Boat Apprenticeship in Groton, Connecticut. Prior to teaching, Captain Philip Bonang worked as an owner/operator of the commercial fishing vessel, the Jane & Flora, where he was responsible for all planning, forecasting, decision-making, equipment management, and vessel maintenance. Active in local and natural charities, Captain Bonang supports Doctors Without Borders, Public Citizen, the Sierra Club, the National Resources Defense Council, and Make-A-Wish Foundation. Bonang also acted as the Principal Investigator for the National Fish and Wildlife Blackfish and Shellfish Study. In his free time, Captain Phil Bonang enjoys water activities such as ocean fishing, ice fishing, kayaking, and pleasure boating. He also spends time in the mountains hiking, biking, and Nordic skiing. He is American Boat and Yacht Council certified and licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard.
