Social Entrepreneur in Kloof, South Africa
I live in Kloof (KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa), was born and educated in Zürich (Switzerland). I arrived in SA in 1979 and became South African citizen in 1992. I enjoy travelling, music, photography and art, especially if I can share it with my family and friends.
Professionally, I am a social entrepreneur and bioeconomy consultant who is involved in the cleantech space. My focus is on the conversion of biomass into chemicals and energy products. My specific interest is the conversion of the C5-sugar (pentoses), found in the hemicellulose, into furfural a bio-renewable platform chemical (and associated energy products).
My activities are focused on being the interface between technology, marketing, innovation and business success. I assist with the validation of current businesses or start-up ideas as well as the development of projects for the benefit of small, (rural) communities or for (agro-)industrial corporations.
With the support of a small team of innovative minded professionals we provide practical (tech) solutions for the missing links in (bio)economic value chains.

"ora et labora": I believe, especially in today's business environment, that St. Benedict's precept to partner contemplation with action results in a fulfilling lifestyle!
