Pieter Ploeg

Pieter Jacobus Daniël Ploeg was born on November 6, 1985 in Hilversum the Netherlands. He graduated at the Amsterdam School of Arts with a Bachelor of Arts in 2008. His dissertation was on Lighting Design for Opera. He worked as a lighting technician for Toneelgroep Amsterdam, as well as staff member for an International Youth Camp for 5 years. He co-founded a youth network organization called IDEM in the Netherlands and organized various youth workshops, meet-ups and conferences. In 2009/2010 he attended the International Youth Initiative Program (YIP), a social entrepreneur training in Järna, Sweden. During his participation he setup a social business called pietradelmundo. As pietradelmundo he was involved in various events and trainings like the Art of Hosting training in Karlskrona and Vancouver as well as the art exhibition SEE! COLOUR! In 2011/2012 he started working at YIP as a Program Coordinator. During his time as a program coordinator he mainly focussed on International Internships, developing the Sustainability Challenges consultation projects as well as Mission U in Berlin with Otto Scharmer. In 2012 he has been part of launching the International Partnership for Transformative Learning and he co-founded Summer of Soil. He is currently traveling and researching for a new project called Common Soil, a bottom-up land restoration initiative.
