Piper Mullins

My professional skills incorporate information architecture and management, project management, business intelligence and research, and data management.

My various professional experiences have all incorporated my fascination with information exchange, data, and web tools. Currently, I coordinate a Smithsonian initiative to develop a biorepository network and implement a repository database for their biodiversity cryo-collections.

After Penn State, I worked as a search engine optimization (SEO) analyst before becoming the Digital Repository Administrator at the University of Tennessee (UT) Libraries. At UT, I configured the front-end repository layout for users and managed content. I also conducted outreach and copyright training sessions. I have conducted a review of data management best practices for the DataOne environmental sciences project. I also interned with Information International Associates where I supported a Fedora Commons repository software development, including XML data transforms and preparing client presentations.

I spent my childhood in Baltimore, MD and in Knoxville, Tennessee near the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. I have a Bachelors of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialization in French and Women's Studies, from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I hold a dual-title Masters of Arts in French and Women's Studies from the Pennsylvania State University and a Masters of Science in Information Sciences from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

I am interested in Web 2.0 tools to foster online communities and reach more users. I love baking and cooking, dancing, cycling, gardening, traveling, and meeting new people.
