Piper Browne

New Orleans, LA

A senior at Tulane University in the beautiful and lively city of New Orleans studying sociology and music.

Beyond the resume, I am a very hard working, enthusiasitc, and down to earth person. Eating cheese or good Mexican food (including Taco Bell) brings me almost as much joy as singing with my a cappella group, Green Envy, or my funk band, CakeWalk. One of my favorite acitivities is heading down to the jazz clubs in the French Quarter of magical New Orleans to dance until my feet feel like they're going to fall off.

My semester abroad in Dakar, Senegal changed my life in beauiful ways. Never have I been surrounded by such amazing, welcoming, proud people who come from so little. I have always known that I wanted to do something where I was used to my upmost ability and that would make a difference in other people's lives. Since living in New Orleans, but especially after Senegal, my eyes have been opened to the education inequality plaguing this city as well as this country, and I want my next step to be helping to close that gap. For the next two years I will be staying in New Orleans and teaching elementary level children.

This city has captivated me and you could say I'm very much not ready to leave.
