Pirhot Nababan
Public Policy Enthusiast in Jakarta, Indonesia
I am currently working at Diageo, one of the largest alcohol beverage producers in the world. Starting July 2018, I have been appointed as the Corporate Relations Manager for Diageo Indonesia. For this role, I am responsible for policy advocacy, communication, corporate social responsibility, and employee engagement.
Before joining Diageo, I worked at EuroCham Indonesia, a non-profit association representing European companies for business-related public policy matters. Appointed as the Policy Advisor, I am responsible for general public policy matters, while focusing on intellectual property, automotive, as well as tax and investment.
Prior to my tenure at EuroCham, I worked as a journalist at Hukumonline.com, an online media focusing on Indonesian legal issues. Served as the managing editor, I reported the latest Indonesian laws, regulations, court decisions, and Indonesia’s current legal development.
My journalism career before Hukumonline.com, started when I worked at KOMPAS.com, one of the most prominent Indonesian online media. During my tenure here, I wrote for metro and national desks.
Additionally, I also write my own thoughts and opinion regarding various matters, from public policy, media, books, to movies.
During my spare time, I play classical guitar (Albeniz and Barrios are two of my favorite composers), read books (mostly Grisham's, Crichton's, Ludlum's, along with non-fiction books), watch movies (sci-fi and political thriller are my go-to genre), or solve twisty puzzles (currently mastering 3x3x3).
Due to my severe obesity (currently 125 kg) and my father's death, I decided to add an unimaginable hobby on my list: SPORT. Now I'm a beginner-yet-passionate sportsman in these three fields: Running, Swimming, and Cycling.
