Joseph Pisano - Ph.D.

Prof. Joseph M. Pisano is a full Professor of Music and Music Technology and the Director of Bands and Special Assistant for Enrollment at Grove City College, Grove City PA. His duties at Grove City include teaching Instrumental Conducting, and serving as the Director of Bands.He received his bachelors degree of Music and public school teaching Certification from Grove City College; afterward, he was the Director of Athletic Bands at the State University of New York at Binghamton where he received his master's degree in Music and Instrumental Conducting. He then went on to complete post-graduate studies in education at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and ultimately earned his Ph.D. in Music Education, with a doctoral minor in Instructional Technology, from Kent State University in Ohio.

Abroad, Dr. Pisano is an active instrumental conductor, adjudicator, author, jazz trumpet player, Fine Arts Advocate, and the founder of a number of very popular music, education, and technology Websites including: MusTech.Net, MusicEdNews.Com, and the MusicPLN.org. Dr. Pisano also serves as a SoundTree Clinician, TI:ME Instructor, and is an affiliate member of the Support Music Coalition where he advocates music and fine arts on the national and international levels. He has conducted numerous honors bands, and has received commendations for his work with bands, education, and technology including the PMEA Citation for Excellence and TI:ME Teacher of the Year.

Dr. Pisano is an active member and inductee in the PA Intercollegiate Bandmasters’ Association, Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters’ Fraternity, Nu Chapter, and the American Bandmasters Association. He is also member of multiple music associations including: NBA, PMEA, JEN, and NAfME.
