Prashanth Gopalan

Prashanth Gopalan is a Toronto-based freelance writer who writes about literature, history, politics and society, with an added focus on South Asian affairs.

Born in India and having lived a transplanted life in Europe and the Middle East before settling in Canada, he graduated with an honours degree in Biotechnology and Economics from the University of Waterloo, and has a background in sales, marketing and operations from three different industries

While a student, he founded and chaired TEDxUW, the University of Waterloo’s official TED-like conference operating under a license from the TED conferences. Under his leadership, TEDxUW content went on to be featured multiple times on TED.com, the TED Blog and international media outlets, received special features on CNN, Forbes, The Guardian, CBC, CTV and BNN, and racked up over 2.5 million views worldwide.
