Rachel Hachero
Canterbury School student Rachel Hachero approaches the end of her secondary education with a multitude of academic, athletic, travel, and volunteer experiences under her belt. In addition to earning membership to the Canterbury School National Honor Society, Rachel Hachero participated in the Environmental Club during her sophomore year. For the last three years, Rachel Hachero has devoted her time and energy to the private school’s Model United Nations (MUN) debate team. During her sophomore year, Rachel Hachero ventured to Istanbul, Turkey, to compete in a MUN conference. In her junior year, Rachel Hachero served as the Director of Communication for her MUN team and attended the Harvard National MUN Conference. This year, she placed third in her committee at the Harvard event. Rachel Hachero has also attended the KnightMUN conference at the University of Central Florida, as well as MUN gatherings in Cape Coral, St. Augustine, and at Florida Gulf Coast University. Beyond the academic extracurricular activities, Rachel Hachero actively engages in a number of athletic pursuits, as well. She dedicated three years to running track and one season running cross country for her school; she regularly competes in local five-kilometer races. Expanding her racing experience, Rachel Hachero also participates in area half marathons, including the Hooters to Hooters event in Fort Myers, the Naples Daily News race, the Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend, and the ING Miami contest. Striving to improving her community through various enterprises, Rachel Hachero previously volunteered at The Shelter for Abused Women & Children (also known as the Naples Shelter) and at the Habitat for Humanity International offices in her hometown. Attending to animals in need, she walks and socializes dogs through the Gulf Coast Humane Society. Rachel Hachero also belongs to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
