Throughout his career in securities litigation, Ralph Ferrara has worked on a wide range of complex cases, from shareholder class actions to matters of government and internal investigations. IHe has now been in practice for more than 40 years, but he acquired early experience as an employee of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), where he served in such roles as Chief of Staff and General Counsel. From the SEC, Ralph Ferrara went on to a successful career in the private sector, notably serving as Managing Partner in the Washington, D.C. office off a top law firm after completing his tenure as Vice Chairman at another major firm. Now a member of the Securities Litigation and White Collar Defense & Investigations Groups in Proskauer’s Washington, D.C. office, he continues to represent and advise clients on securities, corporate governance, regulatory and other related matters.

Ralph Ferrara also serves as Chairman of the Securities Regulation Advisory Board for Wolters Kluwer., Additionally, he teaches continuing legal education courses through the Practising Law Institute and frequently writes articles for legal journals. His recent work includes authoring “Fine Wine Gets Better with Age: Brophy, Zapata and the Resurrection of State-Law Insider Trading Claims.” for the CCH Federal Securities Law Reporter.

Considered a leading figure in securities litigation, Ralph Ferrara has been recognized in a number of legal publications, including Best Lawyers in America, The Legal 500 United States and Chambers USA, where he is identified as a first-tier securities regulation lawyer. In 2013, Securities Docket included Ralph Ferrara in its inaugural “Enforcement 40,” a list of the top securities defense lawyers.
