Rand Schubin

Rand Schubin worked at Coolidge Elementary, Spring Road Elementary, and Shattuck Middle School in Neenah, Wisconsin, as a Special Education Teacher. In this role, Mr. Schubin instructed students in social, academic, and life skills. He also provided community-based instruction and vocational skills training for children of a variety of ages. Rand Schubin taught students with cognitive and learning disabilities, autism, emotional and behavioral disorders, visual and physical challenges, and other health impairments.

In addition to designing and delivering curricula, Mr. Schubin also led a team of therapists and teaching assistants and conducted workshops to help other students and faculty members to better understand children with disabilities and relate to them within the school setting. Rand Schubin has worked with a range of adaptive technologies and equipment, including augmentative communication devices, walkers, and standers.

Prior to accepting a position as a Special Education Teacher in Neenah in 2005, Rand Schubin served as a Lead/Line Therapist, offering in-home therapy to children on the autism spectrum through the Wisconsin Early Autism Project in Green Bay. He also taught middle and high school students in special education programs in Minnesota before moving to Wisconsin.

Rand Schubin attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Communication Arts in August 1992. He then went on to complete licensure in Moderate to Severe Mental Impairment in grades K-12 in Minnesota and earned a Master's degree in Special Education at the University of Saint Thomas. Upon moving to Wisconsin, he became licensed in Cognitive Disabilities in grades K-12 through coursework at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. In addition to his formal education, Mr. Schubin has completed a range of professional development courses, including Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training, Educational Programming and Instructional Strategies for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, and Simple Technology: Making it Work for You.
