Ray Katz

Since 2011, veteran sales and marketing executive Ray Katz has served as co-founder and managing partner with Source1 Sports. In this capacity, he guides a subsidiary of Hackensack, New Jersey-based Source Communications, which has three decades of corporate marketing experience behind it. Ray Katz has coordinated a number of prominent marketing and sponsorship programs with clients such as Subway, HP, Sony, Amtrak, Enterprise Car Rental, including Enterprise CarShare, and the 2014 Super Bowl Host Committee.

After earning his B.S. in economics at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, Mr. Katz pursued an MBA at the same institution. From 1992 to 1996, he served as senior director of marketing with NFL Properties, Inc. then an operating division of the National Football League Responsible for managing a $10 million marketing budget, he expanded the league’s brand rating to three times that of the nearest sports league.

Next serving as president of Smartix International, he expanded the revenue base of a sports- and entertainment-focused loyalty, ticketing, and affinity commerce firm. His fan enhancement and management programs included a $5 million MasterCard deal involving several Major League Baseball teams. This electronic tickeing program was the first mover in the marketplace, even before Stubhub.

Ray Katz currently holds board responsibilities with the Wharton Sports Business Initiative at the Wharton School, and he serves on the Ivy Sports Symposium’s advisory board, as well as that of the Business of Sports School.
