Rachel Brent

Hi.

I graduated from the University of Georgia in May 2011 with a degree in Advertising and New Media Studies. I anticipate receiving a M.A. in Interactive Media from Elon University in the spring of 2013. I always knew I wanted to go back to school but a year working in retail kicked that desire into high gear. If anything, retail work was a great focus for me. If you think you know how to multitask, try working in a grocery store at Christmas time—you might rethink your abilities.

I'm excited to start a new chapter in my life and hone my skills so I can get a job that doesn't involve making chicken salad when I graduate. I have a knack for relationship building and I bloom where I'm planted. I'm the type of person who has three books going at once. I believe the devil is in the details. I have a soft spot for ellipses and parentheses. I'm also bummed the interrobang never caught on. In my free time I bake, knit, kayak, and try to improve my laughable photography skills. I'm probably the preppiest nerd you will ever meet and I read Wired and Martha Stewart Living cover to cover every month. I could probably make friends with a brick wall given the opportunity. I'd love to tell you about my trip this past January to Cuba with a group from Elon to learn about urban agriculture. Or, you could check out our awesome website. I'd like to think I'm a foodie, but really, I just like food.

I have experience in advertising, social media, app building, project management, public relations and event planning (and that's before grad school!) It may seem like a lot, but I think it makes me well rounded. I love to write, and I was published in the 2010-2011 Stillpoint Literary Magazine. I'm not a coder but I'm getting there. I'm no stranger to presenting to clients and I can hold my own in a boardroom setting.

Interested in learning about the projects I've worked on? Have a great family recipe you want to share? Any tips for surviving on ramen noodles? Contact me using one of the methods below. I look forward to hearing from you.
