I am the author of Vote Her In,an inspirational, graphic-driven, and practical guide that explains why we should elect the first Madam President in 2020 and how every woman can mobilize and take specific actions to get us there.

This manifesto convincingly demonstrates that the best strategy for creating a country of equal opportunity and justice for everyone is to shatter this glass ceiling and demonstrate to every American woman and girl who dreams of leadership that she really can be anyone and doanything.

As we approach the centennial of the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment, American women are still making only incremental progress in winning political office, whether legislative or executive. Yet, research has shown that it is women in public office who advocate for public policies that benefit women and girls far more often than similarly situated men. So, in the wake of the Women’s Marches of 2017 and 2018, #MeToo, #TimesUp, and #ShePersisted, Vote Her In makes the case that there is no better time to elect Madam President than now.

I have been a Lecturer and served as the Academic and Program Director of the Women in Public Leadership Program at the Harris School of Public Policy Studies, The University of Chicago.

I also wrote Every Day Is Election Day: A Woman's Guide, a chapbook for would be (bigger and bigger) women activists, replete with lessons and stories from women who have also won for themselves and their communities.
