Ramona Emerson

Ramona Emerson is a Navajo filmmaker originally from Tohatchi, New Mexico. She received her degree in Media/Cinematic Arts from the University of New Mexico in 1997 and has worked as a professional videographer, writer and editor for over ten years. She has been making films since 1990. Emerson - whose films, The Backroad and The Last Trek have been showcased around the country, had her last film A Return Home being funded through the All Roads Film Project and the New Mexico Governors Cup short documentary competition.

She is currently in production on her latest documentaries, Gambling With Our Future and Hidden Talents as well as her latest short film - OPAL. Ramona is a member of the Native American Producers Alliance, the NM Governors Council on Film and Media Industries and in 2010 was named a Sundance/Ford Foundation Fellow and Native Filmmakers Lab participant for her screenplay OPAL.
