Rebecca Ferriday

I'm currently the Learning Technology Manager for the School of Healthcare Sciences at Cardiff University, but my employment history is entrenched in Further Education where I practiced initially as a Teacher Educator managing, delivering and assessing the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and the Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching English in the Lifelong Learning Sector for almost 10 years.

It was while employed in this capacity that I realised that not only could I use a computer without it blowing up...I was developing an almost unhealthy obssession with all things that combined education and technology, from using social networking sites in teaching and learning to content curation, blended learning, online learning, elearning, mobile learning and learning in virtual worlds.

When presented with the choice of remaining in Teacher Edcuation or becoming my institution's sole Learning Technologist, I needed no prompting. When, almost 18 months later, I was offered the same role at Cardiff University, again I needed no prompting, and the rest, as they say, is history.

I also speak at several technology-themed conferences, seminars and workshops every year. It's all about getting the message out you see - call me the technlogical evangelist!

Sadly, I'm also rather fond of Doctor Who, cheese and bad '80s electronica. And as if this weren't bad enough, I also write reviews for Mass Movement Magazine, thereby showing my true nerd credentials!
