Throughout my life I have placed my trust and hopes in many things. Until yielding to the will of God, as it is clearly revealed in scripture, my dreams and hopes always seemed to benefit me more than anyone else. But, according to Jesus, we are to love God with every part of our being and love our neighbor as much as we love ourselves. This is the will of God.

Here's the good news: in spite of our failure to live out God's will and seek our own path apart from what God has laid out for us, God gives grace to the humble heart and empowers those of us who struggle by transforming our hearts to look more like the heart of Jesus. This is good news because Jesus kept the previously mentioned command to love God and others perfectly. As a believer in Christ, I can see my sin (selfishness) more clearly and my need of God's transforming power, that can only come through the spirit of God.
