Due to an unfortunate crash while biking with friends, I was dealt a serious injury. I received an acquired brain injury, leaving me disabled. I want to increase awareness of an acquired brain injury, and help people to understand that it's in 1 out of every 26 people, worldwide. The most prolific term that's used for the injury is 'concussion'. As a member of the PARTY Program (Prevent Alcohol and Risk-related Trauma in Youth, http://www.partyprogram.com/), I'm giving a monthly presentation at the hospital to high school students about bicycle safety, and alcohol-related accidents. Also, I organized the Brain Injury Awareness Walk. The first year that it happened, it was referred to as ConquerABI, it took place world-wide, and has become "Brain Injury Awareness" walk. The first year the walk happened in countries including Australia, Belgium, Scotland, Spain, US, and multiple sites in Canada. I am trying to raise awareness, around the world, of an acquired brain injury. The reason for the month of June is because Ottawa's mayor declared the month of June as Ottawa's "brain injury awareness month."

I'd appreciate it if everyone could reference the hashtag #IamBrainSTRONG to make it more known!
