Robert Ferrell
An established psychiatrist in the Boston area, Robert Ferrell, MD, has been in private practice in Massachusetts for more than 30 years. In the course of his career, Dr. Ferrell has held appointments at Massachusetts General Hospital, Northampton State Hospital, Anna Jaques Hospital, Medfield State Hospital, and others. His past leadership experience includes serving as Director of Psychiatric Consultation at Tewksbury Hospital, in which position he implemented improved inpatient care while overseeing the treatment of 400 patients. Dr. Robert Ferrell most recently joined Arbour SeniorCare, where he continues to provide psychiatric care for geriatric patients as a Consulting Psychiatrist. His private practice is located in Wellesley.
Beyond his career as a practicing psychiatrist, Dr. Robert Ferrell has experience in academia, having served as an Assistant in Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital and a Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard University, among other roles. Dr. Ferrell has also published academic articles in journals including The American Journal of Psychiatry. Highly active in his field, he is a member of the American Neuropsychiatric Association, the Massachusetts Psychiatric Association, and the American Psychiatric Association.
Dr. Robert Ferrell graduated cum laude from Bowdoin College with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. After completing his Master of Science in Physiology at Tufts University, he earned his Doctor of Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California (USC). For his postdoctoral training, he completed an internship at USC Medical Center and a three-year residency in psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital.
In his personal life, Dr. Ferrell stays active through bicycling, hiking, skiing, and golfing. He also enjoys singing and traveling internationally with the Boston Saengerfest Men's Chorus and performs in an a capella group for a variety of events in the New England area.
