A prolific author recognized for his eclectic body of work, Robert Stanek currently splits his efforts between a vast array of projects in juvenile fiction, young adult and adult fantasy, and nonfiction regarding technology. With more than 100 published books to date, Mr. Stanek has released his titles in such diverse formats as paperback, hardcover, e-book, and audio book, staying on the cusp of the latest trends in reading technology. From his essential fantasy epic, Ruin Mist Chronicles, to his most recent series for young readers, Bugville Critters, Robert Stanek creates dynamic worlds and characters that take on lives of their own. His novels have featured on many bestseller lists on Amazon and Audible; in particular, his novel The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches became the #1 bestseller on Audible for several weeks.

Widely noted for his technology guides as well, Mr. Stanek has written dozens of volumes on software, the web, and other pertinent topics, with forthcoming books on Windows Server 2012 Inside Out, Windows Server 2012 Pocket Consultant, and Windows 8 Administration Pocket Consultant. A current blogger for both O'Reilly Media and Microsoft, Robert Stanek has also contributed articles to TechNet Magazine, PC Magazine, and Dr. Dobb's Journal, among other publications. When not writing, Robert Stanek consults in various capacities on Windows and server-based technology.

Prior to his writing career, Mr. Stanek spent 11 years in the United States Air Force, during which time he flew more than 200 combat hours, served in the Gulf War, and earned such honors as the Distinguished Flying Cross and Humanitarian Service Medal. In addition, Robert Stanek trained for three years as a cryptologic linguist at the Defense Language Institute, where he learned a wide range of European and Asian languages. He holds an M.S. in Information Systems, with distinction, and B.S. in Computer Science, magna cum laude, from Hawaii Pacific University.
