Rob Mader

I have been a professional musician for over 25 years and I have been extremely fortunate in a crazy business. I'm not sure if I can recommend it to someone who loves music, but somehow, it has worked out for me. Fortunate is the word I use often when describing my career.

I perform about 280 shows a year, every year, and I've done it for over 12 years. Before that, I was probably busier as a freelancer. Currently, I am with Donny and Marie Osmond. Before this, I was with Bette Midler, Clint Holmes, KC and The Sunshine Band and appearances with the Four Tops, Temptations, Don Rickles and hundreds of remarkable entertainers.

In 2005, I was freaked out about the music biz and used my music degree to become the Information Technology Specialist for the College of Fine Arts at UNLV. I wanted to be a computer science major at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, but my parents couldn't afford it. Music scholarships helped me get my degree in music, which enablebled me to get hired as a technology manager. It's a crazy world.

I am an Apple Certified System Administrator with multiple Apple certifications and I am ridiculously knowledgable about Apple products. Embarrasingly so. My phone rings all day with computer issues, but I just want to play the saxophone.

I've given up on Facebook and Google plus and I am known for taking months off from social media but my heart is in twitter. It is a remarkable platform and I am quite taken with the people I interact with. In some cases, I feel very close to my twitter friends.

Someday, I will record my own music but right now, I play other peoples music for a living.
