Rodeena Stephens is a full time Instructor in the Communications, Journalism and Media Arts Department at Westchester Community College, where she teaches Speech Communications, Understand Mass Media, and Introduction to Media Writing. She developed the syllabi for Introduction to Media Writing; a new course introduced in fall 2016; which, is now included in WCC’s core curriculum.

Before joining Westchester Community College, Rodeena served as Director of Communications at The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York; one of New York’s largest religious institutions with a membership that exceeds 15,000. She led the team responsible for developing communication strategies that include web, marketing, social media and public relations. With her deep knowledge of social and digital marketing, she leveraged digital platforms to increase awareness and evolve the church’s digital presence. As a result, programs and events are streamed live worldwide.

She currently consults as Social Media Director for New York Women in Communications, the premier organization for communications professionals in the New York Metropolitan area. Her social media strategy increased Twitter followers by 35% within the first year. She utilizes social media platforms such as Twitter to connect companies with consumers via the growing popularity of Twitter chats. Now in its 4th year, Rodeena launched NYWICI’s first-ever Twitter chat, which connects women at every career stage with senior-level executives in the field of communications.

Throughout a career spanning 15 years, Rodeena has worked with New York’s leading media companies such as Sesame Workshop, Ogilvy & Mather, Primedia, and Reuters. She also worked at The Mentoring Partnership of New York, as Director, Training & Technical Assistance, where she trained more than 1000 mentees, mentors and mentoring program coordinators throughout New York City.

Born in New York, Rodeena earned her Master in Arts Degree, with distinction, from New York Institute of Technology. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors at Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning. Rodeena also serves head of marketing for Women's Leadership Institute, located in Westchester County. She has received numerous awards that include the "Dynamic Women Who Leave No One Behind Award," by The National Council of Negro Women, the Journalism Scholarship Award by the Press Club of Long Island to name a few.

Rodeena resides in New York City.
