Roy Rogers

Roy (me) is a (Northern) Virginia native, turned Brooklyn resident, and a PhD candidate in American History at the Graduate Center at the City University of New York (CUNY). His previous educational homes include Shepherd University, where he studied history and political science as an undergraduate, and George Mason University, where Roy received an MA in American History.

His primary scholarly interest is the political and cultural history of disestablishment in the early American republic, particuarly in the Upper South. He is currently writing a dissertation on the relationship between religious practice, law, and politics in early national Virginia and Maryland. Other scholarly interests include Virginia history, gender history, and the political and cultural history of American Christianity from the American Revolution to the American Civil War.

Roy is a founding contributor to "The Junto: A Group Blog on Early American History" and a regular voice on its podcast.

Roy is well-known as a cat person. He is also a (semi-)reformed comic book fanboy.
