My name is Ruby Westkaemper. I am a full-time, Radio-Television-Film student at the University of Texas at Austin. I work at a luxury real estate company, Concierge Auctions, as a Video Production Intern, editing, audio mixing and producing videos. I am the treasurer of Delta Kappa Alpha, a national, professional, co-ed cinema fraternity. DKA has taught me about not only the filmmaking process and the film industry but also professionalism and building character. And finally, I am a two-time SXSW Film Panel volunteer.

Sound is my passion. Few things make me happier than a perfectly timed sound effect, a beautifully crafted film score, or uniquely created foley effects. Since coming to college and joining DKA, my experience working on films has grown exponentially. Although sound is my favorite, I’m curious about every aspect of the filmmaking process. In fact, this semester I am taking classes in both screenwriting and editing. I am determined and driven to keep exploring cinema and progressing my personal skill set, utilizing and immersing myself in the Indie film scene in Austin along the way.

I am excited to see what lies ahead for my future, and I look forward to experimenting with filmmaking in everything from pre-production to post production.
