Russell Negus

Born in Durban, South Africa, Russell Negus serves as the executive chairman of Canada-based Abacus Private Equity. Before founding Abacus Private Equity in 1996, he acquired substantial experience in developing commercial real estate, as well as in the agriculture sector through Blackstone Farm Financial, where he undertook a consolidation of the dairy & chicken farming business’s across Canada. Under Russell Negus’ leadership, Abacus Private Equity has enjoyed remarkable success; since 2005, the firm, which now employs over 50 professionals distributed over four major cities in Canada, has closed more than $5.9 billion in transactions. Despite his success with Abacus Private Equity, Russell Negus maintains a passion for agriculture in general and viticulture in particular, which he nurtures by offering commercial vineyards, full wine production including crushing, bottling, and cave storage services through Whiskey River Ranch, a Napa valley commercial winery. Poised to expand, the winery stands as a testament to his commitment to efficient work and the success that can be achieved from it.
