I'm the Web and Social Media Director for the B.C. Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, helping government be more accessible and useful through TranBC and DriveBC. I serve as a communications consultant through my company Communications Kitchen and host CinemaSpiel, a movie discussion podcast.
I love talking with people. A service industry lifer to radio announcer/producer turned social media and communications strategist. I’ve been invited to speak at various events and in classrooms, including the BCIT, Royal Roads University, CPRS and multiple times at Social Media Camp. And I consult for organizations and small business with clients such as BC Transit, Honey Brewing and UVic Law.
I’m an advocate (read: sucker) for great customer-focused service. My thoughts are shared on my customer service blog The Upsell and I’m lucky enough to have gotten a few kudos for it (Top100 of Customer Service Pros on Twitter - Huffington Post, Top20 of the CustomerService100- Call Centre UK, Top 15 Most Influential Customer Service Experts To Follow on Twitter). Remember, be timely, useful, relevant and nearby (accessible).
For me, it’s all about people building meaningful and mindful connections, in life and in business, through technology or in person. My blog Why We Connect and formerly co-hosted YouTube show Getting Engaged support those thoughts.
